Mendocino Community Animal Response Team

Many of us were present on hand for the 2017 fires, we had a mix of County and Community organizations running the emergency animal evacuation shelter at the Fairgrounds. Many people on hand were also under evacuation orders. We knew then as a remote county it would be vital for our animals and their owners to invest in making this official. In 2021 volunteers started attending CART trainings. CART volunteers are a trained grassroots group of community members, that are deployed at Mendocino County OES request in the event of fires and to go in and assist with animals during disasters.
